Norwegian grinders Beaten to Death have premiered the official video for their track “I Keep Stalling” at New Noise. The track, which comes from the band’s Unplugged LP, is set to a performance video filmed by Per Georg Krokstad and edited by Mika Martinussen. Bassist Mika Martinussen comments:

“I guess this is one of the more melodic songs on ‘Unplugged’ – even the vocals have sort-of a one-note melody going at one point. I’m not entirely sure, but I think the song is about never having enough time to get stuff done.”

KINGS DESTROY Release “Smokey Robinson” Video

kd woods

NYC doom rock outfit Kings Destroy recently premiered the official video for their track “Smokey Robinson”, which is featured on their most recent self-titled LP, at Revolver. The live performance video was captured by Frank Huang at the band’s record release show earlier this year at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn. Vocalist Steve Murphy issued the following statement regarding the video:

“Our previous videos always had storylines so this time we bring you a live sampling of the band. It made sense to have it filmed at Saint Vitus in Brooklyn, New York on our record release show because that place is home to us much like CBGB was home to our hardcore bands. The people at Saint Vitus have nurtured us from our early days. We also chose Frank Huang to produce it. Frank is in the process of documenting the heavy scene in NYC like no one else. His work is important and down the road it will be Frank who will be recognized for his tireless contribution to our scene. I did not tell the band that we were doing this video so it’s a true representation of Kings Destroy live. The words of the song have darker undertones about the problems we have with racial equality in our country. The words play off the more upbeat tempo of the song.”

MY DYING BRIDE Release “Feel The Misery” Video

British doom legends My Dying Bride have released the official music video for their track “Feel the Misery” from their new album of the same name. The six minute jam is set to a tragic clip directed by James Sharrock and Ryan Mackfall. Sharrock commented on the conception of the video:

“The concept for “Feel the Misery” has been in my head for a while. It is loosely based on the famous painting “Raft of Medusa” by Theodore Gericault painted in 1819, and when I heard the song it invoked the creative idea I had been thinking about.”

He continues:

“In May this year I read in the news reports of a “Ghost ship” carrying 350 starving Rohingya Muslims vanishing off Thailand. Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand refused to engage in search-and-rescue operations, instead pushing the boats back to sea, letting the people starve and refusing to accept the asylum seekers – similar to the story behind ‘Raft of Medusa’ . It was only later in the year as we were filming the music video down around the Pembrokeshire coast that the media took a greater interest in the deaths of asylum seekers in the Med. The song has allowed me to bring to life not only issues that are currently facing us all, but a masterpiece that reflects a similar tragedy from centuries ago.”

LOCRIAN Debut “Heavy Water” Video

Locrian vidclip

Chicago/Baltimore experimentalists Locrian have premiered the official video for their track, “Heavy Water”, over at No Clean Singing. Taken from the new album Infinite Dissolution, the track is set to a visually-striking and abstract clip created by George Moore. Vocalist and keyboardist Terence Hannum commented on the track:

“The album is richly varied in its sound, both harsh and sublime. Through music, it traces a narrative inspired by the album’s disturbing central idea. Perhaps unexpectedly, the album’s penultimate song, ‘Heavy Waters’, is buoyant and bright, a shimmering, uplifting, cathartic piece — something you could dance to. It could be seen as a hopeful possibility — the chance of a rebirth for life if (and maybe it’s just a question of when) humanity succeeds in wrecking all that’s around us now.”

INSECT ARK Debut “The Collector” Video

Multi-instrumentalist  Dana Schechter (a.k.a Insect Ark) has premiered the official video for her track, “The Collector”, over at Noisey. Taken from the new album, “Portal/Well”, the sinister “The Collector” is set to an abstract and dark clip depicting, as Schechter describes, a “wandering drifter who seeks out lost human souls”. Schechter offered the following comments on the video:

“It’s always a challenge to make visuals for my own music – how do you tell a story for a song with no words? “The Collector” is the tale of a wandering drifter who seeks out lost human souls, swallowing and extinguishing their spirits; the story came to me after the music was complete. Visual inspiration was partly drawn from black & white 1960s Japanese ghost films, but the filthy animated rural/urban landscapes are how it looks in my dreams: barren, looming, washed-out and absent of people. We used a video back-projection in front of dancer Mee Ae, and also filmed her on a greenscreen so I could work her into other animations in post production, which editor Alan Dubin (also the vocalist of Khanate/Gnaw) used in the larger edit.”

Check out the video after the break.

Guitarist/vocalist César Márquez offered the following comments on the track:

“The concept behind “Dawn of Ages” is loneliness and how we are trapped in these modern and chaotic societies. It’s a song about our routines, about our quotidian, but with the hope of improving “something” and assuming your own path in this world.”

The video can be viewed after the break.
