Veil of Maya are one of those bands that I only came to like in the last few years. The band never interested me before their album Eclipse. That album is fucking phenomenal and I have been seriously looking forward the checking out some of the bands new material. The band has release a new track titled “Teleute” and it’s pretty badass. Subject Zero: VEIL OF MAYA Release New Track!

VOMAll week Veil Of Maya have been teasing that they would release a new track at midnight on October 30th and, right on the dot, they did. The new track is called “Subject Zero” and it destroys. I have stated in the past that I was not a fan of Veil Of Maya before they released their last album Eclipse last year and, after hearing this track, I can say that the band still has my attention. Check out the track after the jump. The song will be available to download on November 11th.     Continue reading

Divide Paths: New VEIL OF MAYA Music Video Now Playing

I got into Veil Of Maya with the release of their 2012 album Eclipse, which almost landed on my Best of 2012 List last year. It’s a phenomenal album that I still listen to consistently because I don’t tire of it. The band has unveiled a new music video for the songs “20/200” and “Divide Paths.” The video is strange, but very cool. I really dig these songs and seeing them in a cinematic fashion just makes it better. Check out the video after the jump.     Continue reading

TWITCHING TONGUES Debut Video For “Preacher Man”

Metallic hardcore group, Twitching Tongues, have just released a video for the song “Preacher Man” off of their latest EP of the same name. Shot entirely in black and white, the beautifully lighted video for “Preacher Man” is basically a well shot performance video with some cool effects and occasional allusions to the theme of the song. A song which according to an interview with John Hoffman/Caution of Weekend Nachos(in his zine Spilled Blood) is about how the mother of brother members Colin and Taylor left their father for a priest. Stream the awesome video below, pick up the EP from Closed Casket Activities here and be sure to catch Twitching Tongues on their upcoming and officially weirdest tour with Veil of Maya, The Acacia Strain, Upon A Burning Body and Volumes(dates below). Also, Keith At Chain. Continue reading

VEIL OF MAYA And THE ACACIA STRAIN Announce Co-Headlining Fall Tour

Set to shoot off sometime around Thanksgiving is this massive co-headlining tour between progressive metallers Veil of Maya and chug fest deathcore giants The Acacia Strain. While I can’t say that VoM or Acacia Strain are in my relevant interests, their latest and most recent albums were decent and enjoyable listens in my personal opinion. Support for the tour comes in directly from San Antonio deathcore act, Upon A Burning Body, LA djenters Volumes, and from out of fucking nowhere, LA metallic hardcore act, Twitching Tongues. And so this tour has something for everyone, something for the half way prog metal, half way deathcore crowd, something for the straight up deathcore crowd, something for those up and coming djenters, and something for the no-bullshit hardcore crowd. Check out the dates after the jump courtesy of Metal Injection. Continue reading

The Road Thus Far: Ross Gnarly’s Six Favorite Albums Of 2012 So Far

Well, it is getting dangerously close to the middle of the year and you know what that means. Asshole bloggers like me start talking about their favorite albums this year so far. Well, I’m not any different from any other asshole, so here is my current favorite albums of the year so far. These are not in any particular order. These are just unbelievable albums that I have learned about and jammed out to these past six months. [Continue…]

With Passion And Power: Okay, This New VEIL OF MAYA Is Pretty Great

I have never been a fan of Veil Of Maya in the past. None of their material ever really caught my attention, but recently I found myself checking out their new album Eclipse on YouTube and I have to admit that this is pretty good material. It strays from the straight deathcore influence that was present on their older material and matures from the slightly-better music present on Id. I think Eclipse is the band’s best material to date. It’s not covered in scene goo like Id was. This album is fucking heavy, they take djent and give it balls. So yeah, for whatever genre you want to place them, deathcore, djentcore, djent, what have you, Veil Of Maya‘s Eclipse is fine with me. Check out Josh Armijo’s review of Eclipse here. The album is available now via Sumerian Records.

Does This Commercial Make You Wanna Go To SUMMER SLAUGHTER???

Metalblade Records is on some throwback shit with the release of a fucking commercial trying to build hype for the Summer Slaughter tour. lol, I really don’t know why labels waste their money making these commercials anymore. I mean if it’s not playing on fucking headbangers ball or uranium or something is there even a point? Do shows like that even exist anymore?

Anyway, Let’s have a roll call. How many of you guys will be attending this years edition of Summer Slaughter? I’ll probably be at the one in Dallas. I know I have previously made fun of this years line up, but it turned out better than I expected and I’ll probably be conducting some interviews, so whatevs….

Troll School 101: VEIL OF MAYA & MISHA MANSOOR Troll YouTuber

So, apparently musicians actually watch YouTube. Who woulda thunkit? Apparently some of those musicians are Veil Of Maya and Misha Mansoor (of Periphery) because, in regards to an ignorant YouTuber, they have released a track titled “Punisher” which features a pretty epic troll of this dude. Also worth noting, the dude calls their style “duh-jent” which, I’m assuming, makes him a duh-tard. Check out the YouTube video here and check out the Misha-produced Veil of Maya track below. Tune in around the 2:00 mark for lulz.
