This year there have been a ton of rad albums that I have really loved. One of said albums comes from Carved Up, a band hailing from Pennsylvania and Jersey. These guys are killing it with the riffs and their debut record Matador will see release on Friday. I am stoked today to bring you a stream of the album. Right here. Right now. Prepare your body for Carved Up.
Tell me a little about you’re new album, “Matador.”
It’s our first proper full length record. We’ve done a handful of EPs and mini records over the past couple of years and this time around we finally felt we were at a place where we could put together a full record worth of songs we could be proud of.
This album is extremely rad. Was it a fun experience writing and recording?
Much appreciated. It was definitely a great experience and one that we’d like to duplicate in the near future. We rented a cabin in the middle of nowhere for four days and spent 14 hours a day writing music and the rest of the time drinking, eating, and talking shit about each other’s Moms. The recording process itself has always been great for us because we individually do what is necessary to come in prepared and we’re lucky enough to work with Vince Ratti. We’ve been doing records with him for a while and he gets us, which in turn helps us get through the foundation pretty quickly leaving us plenty of time to explore other more impromptu concepts.
If you were a matador, what would your matador name be? I think I would be Frederico Montobano. Probably more like Frequentito Bangyourmomo.
